Office information

Dr. Carmine Simone’s office is located inside Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) in the Chest Centre.
The Chest Centre is located on the second floor of the newly built Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre (T2) within the Chronic Disease Unit.

Patients must first register in the Registration Department on the main floor of the Thomson Centre prior to checking into the clinic.

The Chest Centre is located at the end of the hallway in the Chronic Disease Unit on the second floor (T2), beyond the Cardiac Function Clinic. The Clinic registration desks are within the waiting room and Dr. Simone’s administrative assistant, Leila, will be there to receive you during scheduled clinic days. On days when clinic are not scheduled, or If she is not there, someone can help to direct you. You can also call or text the office at 416-465-9133 for information.

 

Office Hours

We typically run clinics on Mondays and on Thursdays. On some Thursdays, Dr. Simone will have clinic at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre or at the South Simcoe Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie. These clinics are reserved for cancer patients served by those regional cancer centres. All other patients will be seen at Michael Garron Hospital in the Chest Centre clinic. Dr. Simone offers video visits using Medeo. Please ask Leila how to set you up with an account to allow for more flexible meeting times with Dr. Simone. This is especially helpful during the winter months.
Dr. Simone’s office assistant, Leila, is available from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Thursday and from 9:00 to Noon on Friday. She can be reached via SMS (or text) at 416-465-9133 or by clicking here.

 

If you require a chest x-ray prior to your visit

Sometimes Dr. Simone requires a patient to obtain a chest x-ray prior to their visit. If you are unsure whether you need and x-ray or not, please contact the office at 416-465-9133 to ask Leila. If you need a chest-ray, after you register in Patient Registration on the first floor, proceed directly to the radiology (or Diagnostic Imaging) department for your x-ray. Once completed. Come to the Chest Centre and register with Leila.

Coming to Michael Garron Hospital

The hospital is located on Coxwell Avenue and the TTC Coxwell bus stops in front of the hospital (north and southbound). The closest subway stop is Coxwell on the Bloor-Danforth line. If driving to the hospital, it is easiest to park underground underneath the Ken and Marilyn Thomson Tower. The underground parking entrance is available off of Sammon Avenue. The office and the hospital does not validate parking. Street parking is available as an alternative as well as public parking on the southwest corner of Coxwell Avenue and Sammon Avenue.

Partnerships to help patients get better care

Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Dr. Simone and the thoracic surgery team at MGH are credentialed at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and provide all thoracic surgery services for the hospital and the cancer centre affiliated with the hospital. Dr. Simone runs a thoracic oncology clinic Thursdays at the Regional Cancer Centre and works closely with the medical and radiation oncology teams to ensure patients receive the sate-of-the art treatments they deserve.

South Simcoe Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, ON

Dr. Simone and the thoracic surgery team at MGH are credentialed at Royal Victoria Hospital and provide all thoracic surgery services for the hospital and the regional cancer centre affiliated with the hospital. Dr. Simone runs a thoracic surgery clinic on Thursdays at the Regional Cancer Centre and works closely with the medical and radiation oncology teams to ensure patients receive the state-of-the-art care they deserve. The team does not perform surgery at Royal Victoria Hospital so patients seen in clinic in Barrie will travel to Toronto to receive their surgical care. The preoperative assessments, follow up care and multidisciplinary care with chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment will all be delivered at Royal Victoria Hospital.

University of Toronto, Department of Surgery

Dr. Simone is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and is involved in the teaching and training of thoracic surgery and general surgery residents. This allows the entire team to stay up to date on current treatments and therapies and ensures all members are functioning to a very high standard. Being a university affiliated hospital benefits patients and physicians alike.

North York General Hospital

Dr. Simone and the thoracic surgery team at MGH are credentialed at North York General Hospital. We provide thoracic surgery consultative services for the hospital. We do not run clinics at North York General Hospital, so all patients seen or referred to our team will be seen at MGH in the Chest Centre.

The Michael Garron Hospital and Lakeridge Health have partnered to better serve the patients of Scarborough. Dr. John Dickie is a thoracic surgeon and Chief, Deparment of Surgery at Lakeridge Health. He works together with our team to improve access for all patients to obtain state-of-the-art thoracic oncology care. Our colleagues and partners in Oshawa are helping us lead the way in developing and expanding great thoracic surgery services in Scarborough.

Referrals

If you are a doctor and wish to refer your patient to Dr. Carmine Simone

The following information is required for all new referrals:

  • Patent name, date of birth,
  • address,
  • all telephone contact information,
  • OHIP number with version code,
  • and a brief referral letter outlining the problem.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept international patient referrals. We are only accepting patient referrals for Ontario residents.


If imaging is available the patient must bring all images to their appointment.

Due to the nature of Dr. Simone’s practice he may be called away for emergencies, which may interrupt the clinic or office appointments.
